Visiting Tegucigalpa

"He even came in ayunas (fasting) just in case we could operate on him today!" Shafick responded. In an indirect way he was telling me that the date of April 11 I had given him, was not going to be well received by his clinic patient this morning.

I wasn't even supposed to be there this morning. We had originally planned to drive. But when contemplating a difficult 9 hr drive (one-way) just for a meeting, our desire to maintain some semblance of mental and emotional sanity prompted us to look at other options. In the end, we opted to fly to Tegucigalpa. A decision I am very thankful for, as I had responsibilities at the hospital that I was able to take care of this morning before we had to leave to catch our flight from La Ceiba to Teguc. In addition, I fielded a few surgical consults in person from the Honduran docs, and I did suggest a second option for Shafick's patient that was received as more reasonable considering it was a patient not able to work due to the presence of a hernia, and rightfully so was fearful of being fired.

We are here in Tegucigalpa for an appointment I have tomorrow at the Medical Sciences school, a branch of the National University of Honduras. I get to present all of my documents to start the process of validating my medical license here in Honduras. I am rather nervous about the appointment. In my head space, I am completely aware that God has brought us to Honduras and can provide the grace sufficient for this process, and yet, I'm still worried. All I can say, is even if they reject my documents tomorrow and tell me to start over, the process will still be in God's hands. It won't be the first time He's asked me to start over again, repeat a process again. Through it all, he has always proved faithful.

Prayers appreciated!

Much Love!
