Electrical Surgery
It was Jake's turn to be down at the hospital this morning for an emergency. Long story short and summarized through my perspective, there was a transformer that needed surgery.
This AM, after a slow morning recovering from the busy week, we took the moto down to the hospital. I needed to round on my patients and Jake needed to investigate just how busy the hospital was. Praise the Lord all was well. My patients were all healing well, feeling better and ready to go home. In addition, in preparation for a lack of anesthesia coverage this weekend, a handful of moms had all been induced yesterday. There was a hospital full of new babies this morning, and no pending need for any c-section. Jake, taking all as a green light, he suited up and cut the power to the hospital.
About 1.5 hours later Jake was back up to the house, hospital had power restored, and thankfully there had been no fires in the process. I asked Jake when he thought the transformer had first been in trouble, which he estimated, based on anecdotal evidence, it had very likely needed repair a year ago. So this begs the question, how did this transformer provide for the hospital an entire year in it's severely damaged state? Jake scratches his head, then holds his chin as he tries to explain the situation with a known mechanical application. And yet, the best he can come up with is, "I don't know, it's weird. The whole thing is just weird."
Or, had God simply provided, until Jake was able to diagnosis and treat. To me, it is yet another example supporting the fact that God still has a plan for Loma de Luz. There's still work for the Kingdom to be done here, and God will provide for that work both with us as workers in the field as well as despite us taking so long to recognize a physical electrical issue. Praise Him!
Much Love.
Unrelated to the above story, but thought it was too cute to not share. Mia is the almost 3yr old daughter of our midwife at the hospital. She had stopped by the OR to show off her new outfit. She thought she looked cute. Personally, having her boots on the wrong feet made it just that, and I couldn't disagree. She looked very cute indeed!
