Like a Force of Nature

We've had a lot going on here lately. And on top of that, there's rain. This past week after three days of constant rain (over 10 inches) a lot of things beyond my control all seemed to happen. I try my best to pivot and balance but this past week was a challenge. After those three days of rain, we finally got a break long enough to step outside and assess things. We had a rather alarming discovery. A small section of the hillside that the road up to our house is built on gave way. Thankfully, the road is still intact but it has forced us to reshuffle projects around since this road is the only way to get from housing down to the hospital.

With this last round of rain it was also brought to my attention that one of the school buses doesn't have working wipers, and that the driver would really appreciate having working wipers. I certainly can see where he is coming from. Communication is seldom fast, and the story is seldom complete. In this case upon investigation I found that not only was the wiper motor completely missing, but all of the linkage connecting the wiper motor to the wiper arm had disappeared as well. Thankfully through the power of google, parts diagrams can be located and orders placed to hopefully bring the wipers back to life.
Finally, the roads have developed ruts deep enough that SUV's are starting to struggle to get through. One of the other missionaries here asked me to look at their vehicle because of a screeching sound it started making after going through these ruts. So we pulled the vehicle over the service pit and climbed under to take a look. Pretty quickly we found part of the evap system had been dislodged and was rubbing up against the CV shaft that drives the driver side rear tire. In the moment you just do the best you can so repairs were made in the form of some wire holding the cover off the shaft and some zipties holding the rubber boot back over the shaft and sending the vehicle on its way.

No doubt more will come, and we'll tackle it the best we can.
Keep after it
