La planta energizer

Earlier this week I was asked to look at a generator that was not working properly. As the game of telephone ensued I was able to piece together that the key switch had been replaced, and it never worked correctly afterwards. The fun thing about these projects is that you usually are only getting half the story, and seldom are you given any documentation that you can reference. This is not unique to my situation. I think most people can relate to "not getting the full story." Strangely enough, I enjoy doing these investigations and trying to piece together the past. Which in the case of this generator is looking mostly at wiring and seeing whats been modified and trying to understand why it was modified. Ultimately, I was able to make the needed wiring repairs which then revealed additional issues. So the generator still isn't operational, but hey we're moving onto another piece of the puzzle now!

Chasing down electrical problems on old equipment is always an adventure.

While I wasn't able to dig up any useful documentation about the generator, I did come across a photo from 22 years ago that seemed appropriate for this.

To bad it didn't come with any info as to what's going on.

So decades later and the same generator is still being worked on. If you could define the mission field in a series of two pictures....

Keep after it!

P.S. The slang Honduran term for these generators is plantas.
