Perfect timing

The busy weeks go by quickly. Last week was a full week of all orthopedics. I had not planned any elective cases to allow the visiting team maximum time in the OR, and then, all emergent cases were additional orthopedic injuries. The team would comment on the lack of general surgery cases, but I knew that God was making use of the team.
On Friday, at morning devotions, I asked for prayers for the surgeries that day as it was scheduled to be a very long day after an already long week. Silly me, God already had a plan for the team that day. Two of the patients (both with long complicated surgeries) were not able to come, but in their place a man with a chain saw accident to his hand presented to Emergencia. One of the orthopedic surgeons that week was a hand specialist. It really is awesome to see how God lines up patients for us. It continues to demonstrate for me how He still has work for this Hospital in this place. He still has a purpose for Loma de Luz, our work isn't done yet.
Now that the orthopedic team has left, the patients with hernias and appendicitis have returned needing their own surgeries. There is a Pediatric surgery team visiting this week as well as an Ophthalmology team, in addition to my own cases. The OR continues running at 11!

Exploder update: The transmission has finally made it's way all the way to the Hospital. And today Jake is taking a quick trip with a fellow missionary to go pick up tools and other items they have purchased from a missionary in a town approximately 6hrs away. They will return tomorrow, and then with these tools Jake plans on exchanging old for new transmission in the Exploder this weekend! We are both ready to have the Exploder back up and running again! Very exciting!
Much Love.
