Open doors

I have delayed the writing of this update post on purpose. Jake and I have been home from first Mexico and now Honduras for about a month now. This calculated delay has been, in a way, to allow for a certain level of over-communication. As we have prayerfully and cautiously considered our future abroad, we have sought out advice from those that have much more experience in the mission field than us. We have been blessed with stories, not all of them good, but all of them filled with lessons. One in particular circles around the unfortunate and painful results of poor communication. Learning from the lessons of others, and trusting Jesus to be our guide, we hope to start down a new road. Ever since returning we have been in communication with our Support Team and our mentors/pastors about taking steps to return to Honduras and Hospital Loma de Luz with long-term intentions. Jake and I are very thankful to have been met with support on all fronts and therefore are excited to start taking small steps towards this open door.

I will spare the details of our decision process and ask that if interested please reach out to either Jake or myself and we will be happy to share. We, of course, will be providing formal information update of some sort to both our West Lafayette and our Rockville families in the future, and in the meantime will continue to use this platform to remain accountable to all who have joined us in either support, in prayer, or even just in thought on this journey. We love you all.

Continued prayers for our brothers and sisters in Barra Vieja and the surrounding communities down in Mexico. L to R: Angelica, Kike, Bartolo, Pablo, Tomas, Cruz, Maria, Sostenes, Jake & myself

My OR crew at Hospital Loma de Luz for the week. L to R: Sergio, Karlita, me, Doris, Ingred

Jake hard at work.

Prayers for Honduras as they were experiencing wide-spread forrest fires while we were there and have continued to burn since we returned home. The above is the same view: left was this year, and right was taken when I was there last August/September.

Much Love, Jake & Christy.

Catching the Vision

My years at Illinois State University seem ages ago at this point, multiple lifetimes ago if I'm truly honest. Lessons learned, now...
